So off I went and done lots and lots of research and came up short all I really found was the later model S4 one which requires you to heat up the plastic selector and rotate it 90 degrees which I didn't fancy doing in case it went wrong. Then I decided to order a couple of similar later model ones from an a6 2015 and a q7 and see if they fit. That gets us to where we are today in the video, this is a straight swap, fits perfectly without having to cut, adapt or change anything and can be reversed at any time. Part number for new shift knob - 8K2713139S can be found on facelift a4 / a5 / q5 models.
