My reasoning for wanting to do this is when I removed the suspension last I noticed some surface rust and wanted to address it sooner rather than later. In the video we cover the Following steps: Stage 1; The strip down For this you will ideally need to jack the car up and remove the wheel, once that’s done you will need a Torx 25 bit in driver, remove all the surrounding screws from the inner arch. Take the arch and put it somewhere safe Stage 2; The deep clean Using a degreaser / Heavy duty cleaner & a decent bush ( I use G101 from Autosmart) Coat the wheel arch in cleaner, leave for a minute to dwell the agitate the cleaner with the brush until the dirt is removed. This may take more than one pass depending on the state of it. I prefer to use a hose or watering can as I feel the pressure washer is a tad too powerful for the task but that’s just personal preference. Stage 3; De Taring Using a tar remover ( I use Tardis from Autosmart) Spray the tar spotted areas and wait a couple of minutes, once you see the tar running / softened you can either agitate with a brush or wipe with a cloth which ever you find easier. Repeat the process as necessary. Stage 4; Coatings Dependant on what finish you are after you can do one of many things, Coat in a heavy duty Clear wax ( to protect your now clean arch) Use a Waxoil, stonechip coating or a metal specific heavy duty paint. I went with my go to option which is Hammerite Hammered Black Direct to rust paint, it has a chemical make up that stops rust from progressing, gives a good coverage and is hard wearing. Stage 5; Completion When you have done whatever you chose to do in step 4 allow the product to dry thoroughly then you can replace you inner arch etc. *Please note that all videos are as a guide on how we would approach this restoration, please take care when doing it for yourself, we take no responsibility for any work you undertake yourself* Hope you have found this helpful; any questions drop them in the comments below. How To Jack Up and Work on Audi TT Mk1

How To Jack up and work on Audi tt mk1 I have been asked several times to show how I jack up my car to do work on it so here is a video covering that. Follow our journey, Instagram: @theparrottbros Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theparrottbros/ Website: www.theparrottbros.co.uk Shop Merch: www.theparrottbros.co.uk/shop Email: theparrottbros@outlook.com Supporting The Parrott Bros Channel If this Video / channel has saved you money, helped maintain your TT or you just love our content and you'd like to buy me a drink to say thank you, then feel free to send a donation to https://www.paypal.me/parrottbros All donations will be put back into making more great content! What I use, Trolley jack with lifting Puck 4 axle stands 2 rubber wheel chocks Before starting. Always jack up on a flat ideally level ish surface, with the car in gear and the handbrake on. Jack up the front one side first, placing the trolley jack on the chassis rail, get it high enough to where you want it to work on the car, then place an axle stand infront of the jack on the same support. Repeat this process whilst watching the stand you have just put in. Once the front is up in the air on stands head round the back and put the jack under the rear diff housing/ subframe or if 2wd on the centre of the axle, watch out for brake pipes and cabling, Lift slowly whilst keeping an eye on the 2 stands you have put in at the front. When you have got the car up in the air at the back to a roughly level height put your 2 axle stands onto the circular lifting points just in front of the rear wheels. Then slowly lower the jack down until the weight of the car is on the stands then double check all 4 stands are supporting the car, are firmly on the ground and not tipping. Then you are complete to work on the car, To lower the car back on the wheels just do the whole process in reverse, always keeping an eye on the stands whilst doing anything. Keep the wheel chocks near the rear wheels when lowering down and when on the ground put them under before lowering the front. Always check the car is in gear with the handbrake on before lowering completely *Please note that all videos are as a guide on how we would approach this restoration, please take care when doing it for yourself, we take no responsibility for any work you undertake yourself* Hope you have found this helpful; any questions drop them in the comments below. How To Fault Find Fan Problems Audi

Controls low and fast speeds, believe to operate at 95 deg & 102 deg. You can unplug the switch and check it by finding the live and then shorting that with the 2 remaining pins separately. Low speed fans should run with Ign OFF, High speed require Ign ON. This will confirm if it is the switch at fault or not. Coolant Fan control module ( may vary model to model) Mounted underneath the battery, has 2 plugs For the AC they are controlled by the fan control module. With the AC off (Econ On) the fans won’t run until triggered by the thermal switch on the rad. Low speed are switched purely by stage 1 if that switch. High speed are switched by a relay in the fan control module when triggered by stage 2 of the thermal switch. Coolant temp sensor ( may vary model to model) Located to right hand side of engine, measures the coolant temp twice, once for heater controls and once for dash pods, so these should be within 1-2 degrees of each other. Remember the dash pod is weighted so 80-99 will always sit solidly at 90. If needs replacing always replace seal and always buy genuine. Have seen many aftermarket brands fail. If you have vcds or like you can check measure blocks for coolant temp. ( IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO A THERMAL CAMERA THAT HELPS TOO ) Fuse box on battery (middle big one, first green one) Notorious for looking ok but not passing current, visually check, pull the green fuse out and inspect then push back in and make sure seated well. If your car is also only running the fast speed this can also get extremely hot as they are having to work harder than normal. Large bolt down – Cooling fans and control module Push in green – cooling fans Cooling fans, 2 speeds, slow speed is resistors ( may vary model to model) Both fans should always run together, there are 2 running speeds, Slow speed is almost silent and unless your standing next to them you probably won’t hear them. High speed is loud, sounds like a turbine starting up haha The slow speed should always run when a/c is on regardless of temp, if this does not but your a/c is working well its likely your slow speed resistors have failed. In turn if your car is getting to 100 deg on 49c or dash then again same issue. Fan running when A/C is on ECON BUTTON- When switched, A/C Compressor is switched off, but operation is otherwise automatic. So, if light on econ is on, you’re a/c is not. You may not have an issue with your fans it could well be an issue with you’re a/c. If you’re a/c is low or excessively filled with refrigerant then it will not work, if you have a leek, if the compressor has failed, a leak in the system or your pressure sensor has failed all these will stop operation of the ac. When turning your climate control on and onto auto you should rear the revs dropped for a second as the ac compressor takes a good current draw. After run pump ( not 100% relevant but similar subject) ( may vary model to model) It should run for 10 mins each and every time the ignition has been on and turned off. Cools the turbo down to help reduce the risk of heat damage / cracks like these cars are well known for!! That’s what made me swap mine out last year, on a few occasions I could hear the pump not operating. They’re not noisy, but loud enough to hear quite distinctly when standing next to the bonnet.
